August 1, 2024: With the potential of heavy rainfall and isolated flooding associated with the disturbance currently forming in the Caribbean, Bay County Public Works has placed sand for bagging at Pete Edwards Field (7300 McElvey Rd.) and Majette Yard (4741 Fire Tower Rd.). Please bring your own bags and shovels. Sandbags are available for purchase at home improvement stores.
Currently, Bay County is not under a storm watch or warning, but we must remain diligent in the event the forecast changes.
The Deerpoint Reservoir drawdown gates have been opened to lower the water levels in anticipation of potentially heavy rainfall, and Bay County Utilities will continue to assess the situation and make adjustments as necessary.
