Bayway Transit is excited to partner with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to celebrate the ninth annual Mobility Week from Oct. 25 through Nov. 2. This initiative aims to increase awareness of safe, multimodal transportation options and encourages Floridians to explore new ways to get around. To kick off the week, Bayway staff will be giving away free promotional items at all bus transfer points on Monday, Oct. 25, including tote bags, cups, umbrellas and more. Staff will also be on-site to connect with commuters and share information about transportation options available to the community. On Oct. 31, Bayway will additionally celebrate Mobility Week by offering free rides to any rider wearing a Halloween costume.

“Mobility Week is a fun and engaging way to bring attention to the importance of public transportation,” said Lamar Hobbs, Bay County Transit Program Administrator.  “Many of our riders have shared how much they rely on public transit for everyday activities—whether it’s getting to school, the grocery store, or medical appointments. This initiative allows us to connect with our community and raise awareness about accessible transportation options.”

Mobility Week offers a unique opportunity for counties, cities, and transportation agencies across the state to host events, offer special promotions, and showcase new transportation policies or initiatives. By highlighting alternative travel choices such as taking the bus, biking, walking or carpooling, Mobility Week helps reduce traffic congestion and supports environmental sustainability.
